Banbury United will look to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive when they host King’s Lynn Town on Saturday for their third game in five days.
The Puritans will face the Vanarama National League North's 17th place side at 3pm after putting up a spirited performance in their 2-1 defeat against Hereford on Wednesday night.
Banbury started brightly and could have gone 1-0 up but a goal was ruled out for offside.
The Bulls then scored either side of half-time to take the game away from Banbury.
A Ken Charles penalty on 68 minutes halved the deficit to give the Puritans hope but despite the away side being reduced to nine men, the Reds couldn’t find an equaliser.
Banbury United have rejuvenated their side with the appointment of new captain Tai Fleming who will be looking to lead United to a first win since January.
The Puritans last picked up three points against Darlington on January 30.
Since then they have drawn one and lost 11 in the league and have also been eliminated from the cup.
Fleming expressed his pride over his appointment and commitment to win as many points as possible until the end of the season.
He said: “I’m delighted to be named captain and feel privileged to lead this team at this club."
Adding to the home team's strength, new recruit DJ Campton-Sturridge has given the team a boost and received the Sponsors Man of the Match against Hereford.
However, King’s Lynn Town also come into the game with a strong track record.
Despite a shaky start to the season, Adam Lakeland's side have managed to amass 25 points in their last 15 games and now stand four points and four places above the relegation zone.
Their most recent match saw their 11-game unbeaten run come to an end as they let a three goal lead slip to lose against Scarborough.
The last time these two sides met, the Puritans emerged victorious with a 2-1 win.
Matchday will also see a number of events including the presentation of a cheque for £5250 to the Keep the Horton General campaign and an auction to raise vital funds for the club.
The auction will take place after the match at 6pm.
Additionally, the club will welcome the Puritans Past Players Association to give former players a chance to catch up with old friends.
Everyone is advised to arrive early as the ground opens from 1pm.
To guarantee an enjoyable viewing experience, enough standing, seating areas, and refreshments are available, with a £3 printed programme also available.
