A TRIAL has started at Oxford Crown Court where a man stands accused of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl when he was also a child.
Kyle Butler, of Moorfield Court in Banbury, has been charged with two historic child sex offence charges which are alleged to have occurred in the late 1990s to the early 2000s.
The 34-year-old is accused of two counts of unlawful sexual assault against a girl aged between four and 10 between June 19, 1999 and April 30, 2004.

Butler denies the offences and told police the allegations were untrue after the complainant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, first reported the claims in 2018.
The trial started on Tuesday (March 2) with the opening statement being read out to the jury the following day.
It was heard that the first alleged assault had happened at a house party where Butler had reportedly been allowed to drink despite his own young age at the time.
The prosecuting barrister said: “The defendant came [into the room] and he locked the door.
"She was laying on the bed when the defendant came in and he didn’t seem his usual self.
“He then started to touch her, putting his hands into her underwear. He then removed her underwear and took down his own trousers.

“She said she was numb and didn’t know what to do about what was happening to her. He never said anything and he simply left.
“[The girl] told the police she was scared about what had happened but didn’t want to say anything so kept it a secret, she didn’t want to him in trouble but she knew that whatever had happened wasn’t right.”
The jury heard there was a second similar incident when she was about the same age.
The barrister continued: “She said when she turned 10 or 11 she became a somewhat troubled young girl, running away from school, becoming withdrawn, part of which you can understand due to what happened to her with this defendant.
“When she was about 18…she was in a nightclub and the defendant happened to be in the same nightclub.

“She became immediately upset and told her sister about the abuse she had suffered and that was one of the first times she told somebody about it.”
The alleged incidents were then reported to the police in 2018 and Butler was arrested, the court heard.
He told officers the girl had made the allegations up and they were untrue.
The trial continues.
