Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire is considered to be a market town, holding regular markets dating back to the 13thcentury – something continued as a proud tradition today with multiple markets still taking place. These markets consist of The Charter Market, The Farmers’ Market and The Craft Market.
The Charter Market takes place every Thursday, being held at the Market Place. Many people can be seen gathering in the Market Place every Thursday as they take a moment to view what is on offer for that week: ranging from handmade jewellery and key rings from ‘Posh Pebbles’, baked goods, clothing items and accessories, food stalls, as well as a wide variety of other stalls with excellent choices.
Every Thursday there is an evident bustling environment surrounding the Market Place with salespersons interacting with customers in a genuine and cheerful manner, creating a friendly environment in which keeps people returning the following week.
Items being sold are handmade with great attention to detail, being long-lasting and excellent quality. Therefore, those buying would not only be supporting the business they are purchasing from but also attaining something great for themselves.
Additionally, The Farmers’ Market takes place on the 2nd Saturday and 4th Thursday of the month, starting from early in the morning at 8am and lasting into the afternoon, ending at 1:30pm. The Craft Market takes place on the 4thSaturday of the month with the exception of bank holiday Mondays, instead taking place on the 3rd Saturday of the month. However, the market will start from 9am, lasting until 3pm for whichever Saturday it may be.
All markets offer a great activity for those attending as there will often be a new and different selection to choose from each time you visit.
