A new West Oxfordshire school has been rated 'good' after its first inspection by Ofsted.
Inspectors from the national education standards body visited Windrush Church of England Primary School in Witney earlier this term.
In a report released last week they described the school, which opened on the new Windrush Place estate in 2022, as a place where “staff radiate enthusiasm for teaching”.
Inspectors noted in the report: “Pupils are happy, settled and achieving well in this friendly and welcoming school.
“Classrooms are calm, and there is a purposeful buzz of learning.

“Staff expect all pupils to do their very best. They build warm and respectful relationships with pupils, who feel valued and secure as a result.
“The school is committed to the local community and to making sure that all pupils learn well and thrive.
“Parents are pleased with the school and are rightly confident that their children are in safe hands.”
The school’s headteacher, Claire Doland, said she was delighted by the report.
She added: “The inspectors rightly recognised the commitment and enthusiasm of the school’s staff. They deserve all the warm words.
“We are also pleased with the praise for the inclusive nature of the school, the partnerships we have established with parents and the work we have done to place the school at the heart of this fantastic new community.”
Windrush is part of River Learning Trust (RLT), a multi-academy trust that operates 28 schools across Oxfordshire and Swindon.

RLT’s chief executive, Paul James, said: “We are very happy with all aspects of this report, but particularly with the comments about strong relationships that have been established with parents and the wider local community.
“The best schools are right at the heart of their communities, and this is clearly the case with Windrush.
“Claire and her team should be really proud of what has been achieved so far.”
Windrush CE Primary School, which serves families in new communities in Windrush Place and Colwell Green, was first new primary school to open in Witney for almost 20 years when it opened in 2022.
Previously the newest primary school had been Madley Brook which opened in 2003.
Windrush, which also offers nursery places in addition to a breakfast club and after-school care, is the fourth Church of England school in Witney, joining The Batt, The Blake and St Mary’s.
