Burglars broke into a village home by smashing the back door windows before stealing jewellery, police have said.

Thames Valley Police announced on Thursday the thieves entered a property in Baldon Lane in Marsh Baldon between 7am on Tuesday (March 12) and 8.30am the following day.

The priority crime team based at Abingdon Police Station is asking residents to review any CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage they may have.

A police spokesperson said: "We are requesting residents to review CCTV and doorbell footage in the area.

"Offenders have gained entry to the house by smashing the windows to the rear doors. Items of jewellery were stolen.

"The unit dedicated tackles serious crime, including offences such as high-value burglary."
