Police rushed to a busy Oxford area following multiple reports of a “stabbing”.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening as police cars descended on Cowley Road, Manzil Way and Cosin Close, taping off the latter.

Thames Valley Police are yet to confirm if a stabbing took place despite multiple reports from councillors and the nearby Central Oxford Mosque.

At the time, a spokesperson for the force said: “We’re currently on the scene of a serious incident in Manzil Way, Oxford.

“There is a significant police presence in the area and Manzil Way is currently closed and is likely to remain so for some time.

“We would ask the public to please avoid the area.

“More details will follow later.”
