A dog owner from Oxford is celebrating winning a major award at Crufts 2024.
Catherine Plumstead and handler Jackie Smart picked up the prestigious Best of Breed rosette on the final day of Crufts after wowing the judges at the NEC in Birmingham.
One-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier Zosia’s award was a pleasant surprise for the pair who capped off an enjoyable weekend at the dog show.
“It’s been a very good experience at Crufts this year,” said Catherine.
“Zosia lives with us, we’ve had her from a puppy, she’s a naughty little girl but very sweet as well.
“Jackie has just taken over handling her for me this year and Best of Breed was a shock for us, we never expected it because it was such a big class and she’s quite young.
“Jackie was amazing out there today with her.”
They were unable to go all the way and book their place in Sunday night’s Best in Show finale but still enjoyed a day to remember at the world’s biggest dog show.
Crufts, run by The Kennel Club, is a unique celebration of happy, healthy dogs and of the loving relationship that they enjoy with their owners.
Crufts was held from March 7 to 10 at the NEC Birmingham and viewers can catch up with highlights on Channel 4.
