Former radio host Iain Lee has slammed the Oxfordshire-based radio station JACKfm as "an absolute s*** show".

In June 2022, Lee joined JACKfm and said at the time he was “champing at the bit” to get back on the radio with his new show, “Iain Lee’s Rude Awakening”.

However, Mr Lee, formerly of LBC, Absolute Radio and Talk Radio, soon became disillusioned and quit not long after.

Lee, who no longer has an X account, posted on February 7th 2023: "Hey everyone, a bit of news, a few weeks ago I handed my notice in at Jack FM. Not sure how long I've got left (maybe nothing after this tweet!). It wasn't working for me with no producer, podcast or daily best bits.

"It's also made me realise I don't want to work in radio…"

Following this, Lee has primarily focused on his full-time counselling work which he discusses on TikTok.

The 50-year-old presenter, who is perhaps best known for his role in I'm a Celebrity's 'Strawberry Gate' back in 2017, is not one to mix his words on the social media platform.

When asked by another user: "On a scale of 1-10 (10 good)  what was that Oxford radio station like, really?"

Lee replied: "JACKfm. It was honestly, erm, I did not enjoy it at all. It was a s*** show, an absolute s*** show. Will the producer was great."

What is JACKfm?

According to Radio Today, the local JACKfm stations in Oxford were sold to Bauer in 2023 and were either closed or rebranded.

However, OXIS Media kept the rights to use the name in future, and it turns out the intention is to make a comeback, playing what they want.

In an email last month, Oxis Media said: “Stop the presses, hold your horses, and maybe even pause that mid-life crisis you’ve been joking about because we’ve got news that’ll make your old vinyls skip a beat.

“Yes, you guessed it or maybe you didn’t because you were too busy arguing about why Pink Floyd broke up? – JACK fm is strapping back on its electric guitar, cranking up the amp, and will be returning with our legendary mantra: “Playing play what we want!”

Newsquest has contacted Oxis Media for comment.
