A DRIVER has been ordered to pay over £1,700 after being caught speeding on the motorway.

Ali Abbas Khan, of Havelock Road, Oxford, was caught speeding on March 29 last year on the M1 southbound between junctions 17 and 16.

The 36-year-old was caught speeding on an automatic camera by driving 73mph in a 40mph speed limit zone.

At Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court earlier this year, Khan was fined £1,209 after he was found guilty. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £483 and court costs of £90.

Six penalty points were also added to his driving record.

The total amount he will need to pay is £1,783.
