A nursing home in Fewcott has completed an extension which will add 10 en-suite bedrooms to its current facility.

The extension means Fewcott House Nursing Home will soon be able to cater to 40 residents.

The home has extended an invitation for the community to celebrate the opening of the new extension.

The event is planned for Saturday, March 23 from 12 to 4pm.

Community members can enjoy a meal in the new conservatory while listening to the favourite resident's favourite singer.

The home specialises in dementia care while also providing care for those with Motor Neurones Disease, Down Syndrome, Parkinson's, Alzheimer’s, and more.

The care homes offers a "person centred approach to care" which includes activities and therapies that are based on resident choice.

The care home said: "Each individual is assessed to ensure activities are tailored to work not just for our residents but also family members and carers."

Fewcott House has held an Outstanding CQC Rating since 2019.

It has also received an award for Gold Standards Framework for proficiency in end-of-life care, and has been accredited with the Military Covenant which demonstrates its ability to tailor care to veterans.

The country lodge dates back to 1680 and became a nursing home in 1985.

It sits in rural North Oxfordshire, around four miles north of Bicester.
