Ahead of World Book Day, Trainline has highlighted several journeys found in famous books, including one from Oxford to Birmingham.
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe sees the Pevensie siblings travel to the Oxford countryside by train to stay with an professor and uncover a magical wardrobe.
The other routes are Leeds to Keighley from 'The Railway Children', London Waterloo to Moreton in Dorset from 'The Famous Five', and Glasgow to Glenfinnan from Harry Potter's tales.
Trainline's research with Censuswide found that 27 per cent of children aged five to 12 read at least daily and 74 per cent read weekly.
During train journeys, 61 per cent of youngsters choose reading to pass the time.
Trainline noted that Harry Potter is the favourite train-related character, followed by Paddington Bear and Thomas the Tank Engine.
To assist parents who find creating costumes for World Book Day stressful, Trainline has joined forces with children's author and podcaster Vogue Williams to create a World Book Day DIY costume guide.
Ms Williams said: "I hope this guide gives fellow parents a helping hand with some tips to pull together a fantastic homemade costume quickly and easily."
Sakshi Anand, VP Growth and UK GM, at Trainline, said: "World Book Day is a fantastic way to inspire children to pick up a book.
"We hope the guide helps parents get their children’s World Book Day journey off to a great start."
