Eyewitnesses said there were six emergency vehicles at the scene including police and paramedics.
One eyewitness, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “A driver heading downhill on Burford High Street mounted the kerb, struck the medieval wall of a shop wall before ploughing into a family of five sitting enjoying an afternoon tea in the sunshine at Bakery on the Hill.
"It obliterated the outdoor wooden furniture into splinters and mangled the metal chairs”.
Thames Valley Police has confirmed that only minor injuries were suffered.
An eyewitness said two of the family members were injured while the others "managed to leap out of the way just in time".
