A flood-filled February causes local businesses to suffer under dangerous water levels throughout Buckinghamshire. Following broken down cars and closed roads, travel has become a challenge and safety has become a concern.
Residents of village Chalfont St. Peter have called for urgent action regarding the rising water levels on what once were safe roads. What seems like non-stop rain since January of this year, has caused major concern for those that are amongst it, the rain building up on the streets with nowhere else to go. In addition to troubled travelling, businesses are struggling due to lack of customers, a result of carparks being flooded, and roads being closed. Local of the village has described the flooding as “worrying for residents and businesses” and “off-putting to visitors”.
Businesses struggling to attract customers throughout this severe flooding, have been reaching out to their customers via Instagram and Facebook to remind their followers that they are still open, and offering parking alternatives.
The town centre of Chalfont St. Peter is being continuously pumped in order to rid of some of the water, and residents are being encouraged to support their local shops in this time.
