A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening a member of the public with a pretend handgun in Oxford.
The incident occurred just after 6.05pm on Tuesday, February 27, when Thames Valley Police received reports from members of the public.
It was alleged a man was threatening another person with a handgun in Union Street.
A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Katie Poole of the Oxford Priority Crime Team said: “This incident occurred in a busy area in the early evening.
“I know this was witnessed by a large number of members of the public, many of whom have not yet been identified.
“I am appealing to anybody who was in the area and witnessed this incident to get in touch with Thames Valley Police by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43240092884.
“If you were driving in the area and have dash cam, I would also urge you to please check this and contact us if it has captured this incident.
“If you don’t wish to speak directly with police, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
