A brewery has launched the second of its 175th anniversary beers.

Hook Norton Brewery has named the drink ‘175 Gold’.

The golden ale is described as "strong but subtle" and has notes of orange and grapefruit.

The ale, "perfect" for a "lazy sunny Sunday afternoon", showcases a label featuring The Pear Tree Inn’s image - a pub situated at the bottom of brewery lane.

The Pear Tree Inn, bought by the brewery in 1869, was the start of the brewery's pub estate.

The building was originally an 18th century house, with a red brick front, a sign of wealth at the time, has an attached cottage, and a well which still stands today.

There is also a pear tree growing up the front wall, giving the pub its name.

The original tree still stands, now alongside another which was planted in the 1960's as an insurance policy.

The Pear Tree has since remained a popular spot amongst locals and visitors.

Hook Norton Brewery managing director James Clarke said: "As a brewery, we are nothing without pubs within which to serve our beer.

"175 Gold celebrates all of the pubs that we have worked with over the years."

175 Gold is a limited edition release and can be purchased in 500ml bottles exclusively from the brewery shop or online via the brewery's website.
