Three more people have been arrested following reports of a double stabbing in Oxford.

The incident occurred at around 6.05pm on Sunday as Thames Valley Police officers were called to College Lane in Littlemore after a suspected stabbing.

Two men, aged 33 and 28, were hospitalised while a police cordon was put in place on Sunday evening which lasted until Tuesday afternoon.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday afternoon but has since been released with no further action.

Now three further people have been arrested in connection to the double stabbing in Littlemore with all remaining in custody.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: “Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, three more people have been arrested in connection with an attempted murder in Oxford.

“A 41-year-old man from Headington has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder.

“A 30-year-old man from Botley has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specific controlled drug above the specified limit.

“A 57-year-old woman from Headington has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.”

One of the two men who were stabbed in an altercation remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries while the other has been discharged.

“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area while we investigate this incident and we would advise anyone with any concerns to please speak to one of our uniformed officers,” added the force’s spokesman.

Cowley Road was reopened by police on Tuesday afternoon after the road had been cordoned off since Sunday evening. 

The cordon remained in place throughout Monday as forensics teams carried out investigations.
