A major Oxford road has reopened following days of investigations after a stabbing in the area.

Cowley Road in Littlemore was cordoned off by Thames Valley Police officers at around 6.05pm on Sunday evening.

Two men, aged 33 and 28, were seriously injured in the assault and were taken to hospital before the force arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

The cordon remained in place the following morning and throughout Monday as forensics teams carried out investigations.

The cordon was guarded by several police officers as drivers and pedestrians had to find alternate routes over the last couple of days.

County councillor for Rose Hill and Littlemore, Trish Elphinstone, said: "This is a disturbing incident and it is good to see that the police are dealing with the situation and supporting residents.”

The arrested man remains in police custody at this time.
