Additional time is being added to some bus routes due to factors which are slowing down journeys.

Stagecoach West is adding extra time to S7 journeys (Witney – Woodstock – Oxford) to improve punctuality following changes to the route.

In November last year, after consultation with Woodstock Town Council and Oxfordshire County Council, it was agreed buses would no longer use Woodstock Market Place to turn.

The resulting diversion, coupled with ongoing roadworks and general traffic congestion in the area, impacted the service making timings less reliable for passengers.

From Sunday March 10, the S7 timetable will change to more accurately reflect journey times now that the extension in Woodstock has been made permanent.

From the same date the S7 will no longer serve Woodstock in the evenings although late night links between Woodstock and Oxford will still be available on service S3.

Elisabeth Tasker, Interim Managing Director, Stagecoach West, said: “We’re constantly reviewing our timetables and journey times and implement changes when we see the need.

"This combination of changes will provide a service which more accurately runs to time, improving its reliability and bettering the experience for our valued customers.”

The final alteration to the S7 route is that it will now finish and start at Magdalen Street and will not continue through the city to serve George Street, Park End Street or Oxford Rail Station.

Customers can use services 14, S1 or S3 to and from the city centre and rail station for this connection.

As a result of the changes being made to the S7 timetable, evening journeys on the S4 (Banbury – Deddington – Kidlington – Oxford) have altered slightly to maintain regular intervals with the S7 to and from Oxford and London Oxford Airport.

S4 daytime journeys remain the same.
