Plans are well under way for this year’s Witney Carnival which will take place on Saturday July 13.

The theme is Children's TV Through the Ages with floats urged to use as much bunting and flags as possible to create a carnival atmosphere.

There will be two £50 prizes for the best walking group and float.

In addition, all vehicles and foot entries, groups or individuals, will receive a certificate in recognition of their participation and support.

The Carnival is organised by The Rotary Club of Witney, Witney Lions, Witney Round Table and the Air Training Corps.

The Procession, as in previous years, will leave The Leys at 11am, proceeding along Church Green, left into Corn Street, right into Holloway Road, right into Welch Way, right into the High Street, then left into the Market Square and returning along Church Green to the Leys.

Procession Lead David Lord said: "In spite of the dreadful weather, last year was our biggest and best procession.

"Let’s make it even better this year. "
