Renovations and restorations are underway at the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway, to be unveiled later this year.
The former Great Western Railway (GWR) branch line, which runs heritage, steam and diesel trains, has started construction of a pitched roof on columns in the garden area, designed to resemble a GWR style canopy when finished.
Whilst new beams have already been erected, trusses are still being delivered and completion is expected by late March.

Work at the site is also continuing on one of the British Rail Mark 1 standard carriages. Press officer Jonathan Dart explained the carriage “was one of the first built in its batch.”
He said: “Most heritage railways have Mark 1 standards – this was a 1951 version built in Swindon that we’re working to restore to its original look.”
Mr Dart also confirmed the centre was looking to reopen an onsite museum and the carriage together and is welcoming of new volunteers.
