Forensics themselves also arrived at the scene at around 9.30am to investigate the previous night’s incident.
On Sunday night following the incident, Detective Inspector Lou Heffernan-Glover said: “We are in the very early stages of our investigation, and the exact circumstances are currently unclear.
“A team of detectives from Oxford CID are actively investigating to establish what has taken place.
“There will be a large police presence in the area while we carry out our investigation, so if anyone has any questions of specific concerns, please approach our officers and they will do their best to answer.
“I know that this may cause concern to people, but please be reassured that we do not believe there is a threat to the wider public.
“If you have any information, which you think could be useful to us, however insignificant it may seem to you, please call 101, quoting reference number INC-20240225-1462. What you tell us could be key to our investigation.”
