Two men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after an assault in Oxford.

Police were called to College Lane in Littlemore at about 6.05pm following reports of an altercation.

On arrival, two men, aged 33 and 28 were found seriously injured and taken to hospital for treatment, where they remain at this time.

Road closures have been put in place and the police are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible, in order to minimise disruption.

A large police presence will remain in the area as detectives continue to investigate the incident.

Detective Inspector Lou Heffernan-Glover said: “We are in the very early stages of our investigation, and the exact circumstances are currently unclear.

“A team of detectives from Oxford CID are actively investigating to establish what has taken place.

“There will be a large police presence in the area while we carry out our investigation, so if anyone has any questions of specific concerns, please approach our officers and they will do their best to answer.
