The Oxford Mail has opened a book of condolence for a cyclist who was killed in a crash near a busy roundabout.

A silver VW Golf was travelling towards the A44 roundabout yesterday (February 24) on Frieze Way in Kidlington when it collided with the cyclist at about 6.40pm, police have said.

The 54-year-old man, riding a grey Carrera mountain bike, died at the scene as a result of injuries he suffered.

“We would like to speak to anyone who saw this happen or saw either of the vehicles involved prior to the incident.

"We would also ask anyone with any relevant dash-cam footage to come forward."

Leave your tributes hereDavid, today has turned out to be the saddest of days. Can’t believe I will never see your happy smiley face again. Every time I saw you you were always smiling and happy you were such a gentle soul, you will be so sadly missed. If I rewind the clock back 30 years I can see us sitting down with my mum and dad for a meal. I remember how nervous I was when you invited me to meet your mum and dad. I am sending so much love to your mum Pat and she will be in my prayers tonight. You phoned only 2 weeks ago to give me details of someone who was looking for painting to be done. I am so grateful we chatted for a while I am sat here writing this still in shock. Thank you for your friendship over the years yes you were known as brainy and bird to me you were always just David. Rest in peace me Dan and Jack are absolutely gutted. X x x
