A burger joint in Oxfordshire has been hit with an extremely low food hygiene rating.
Your Burger Plus on Bath Street in Abingdon is a sit-in venue which serves a variety of burgers, fries and chicken dishes.
The eatery was visited by the Vale of White Horse District Council’s Environmental Health team on Thursday, January 18, and they were far from impressed.
Inspectors handed the burger joint a shocking one-out-of-five score and labelled the business as requiring “major improvement”.
Your Burger Plus got some things right on the damning report though with the council’s team finding the restaurant’s hygienic handling of food to be “generally satisfactory”.
This concerns the preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of the food served at the premises in Abingdon.
The eatery fell short on the cleanliness and condition of its facilities and building though with inspectors stating “improvement [was] necessary”.
This section of the criteria includes having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
The report found further problems with the burger joint’s management of food safety, noting that “major improvement” was necessary.
This refers to having a system or checks in place to ensure that the food sold or served is safe to eat as well as if there is evidence that the staff know about food safety.
Your Burger Plus has been approached for comment by the Mail.
