THE ex-girlfriend who told police a woman had allegedly committed murder held a rifle towards her months before, a jury has heard.

Scarlet Blake, now 26, is on trial at Oxford Crown Court charged with the murder of Jorge Carreno.

She is accused of allegedly strangling the 30-year-old Spanish man at Parsons Pleasure in the early hours of July 25, 2021 before pushing him in the water – which she denies.

Blake was arrested after police received a report from her former partner, Ashlynn Bell, about Blake allegedly confessing to the murder.

Earlier in the trial, Blake said she had made a fake confession as it made Miss Bell ‘happy’ as she had previously asked her to kill someone.

Blake also alleged that Miss Bell had made her kill her neighbour’s cat or she would have been ‘punished’.

Speaking to the jury on Tuesday (February 20), Blake said Miss Bell had not liked Blake’s new girlfriend, Evie Brockman, and had held a gun up at them both in Colorado.

She said: “When we got back [to the apartment], we found Ashlynn pointing a rifle at the door.

"I blocked Evie...as I knew her problem was with Evie not with me. So I put myself in front of her and I sort of de-escalated by talking to Ashlynn and saying 'It's okay put the gun down, nothing's happening'. [sic]

"And then she did and lowered the rifle and handed it to me. Then we went into the apartment and as I was heading further in Ashlynn was having a verbal consultation with Evie.

"Ashylnn then started hitting Evie and making threats and Evie was very panicked at this point and was worried she was going to kill and shouting at me to shoot Ashlynn.

"I was very drunk and holding a rifle that was loaded. I was trying to figure out the most rational thing to do.

"I knew Ashlynn still had a gun on her...but she didn't have it in her hand. So I wrapped the rifle and told Ashlynn to stop.

"She then started wrestling me for the gun and shouted for her roommate who came out and took the gun away.

"She did also break my rib. Immediately after that, we decided to leave as soon as possible and as fast as possible."

Blake said her and Miss Brockman then left the US ‘immediately’ and a few months later Miss Bell reported her to Thames Valley Police.

The trial continues.
