Drug drivers, shoplifters and speeders around Oxfordshire have been apprehended and condemned by Thames Valley Police’s roads policing team in the last two days.

On Sunday morning (February 18) in heavy rain on a waterlogged M40 near Bicester, officers on unmarked patrol stopped a vehicle travelling at 105mph.

Officers took to the roads policing team's social media platforms and described this speed as “unacceptable at any time” and “truly shocking in those conditions”. The driver was issued a Traffic Offence Report and reported to court.

Also on Sunday morning, officers stopped a vehicle in Witney known for shoplifting. The driver was wanted for three theft offences in Cheshire and was arrested for these.

He was further arrested for driving whilst disqualified and the vehicle was seized. The driver was charged with driving whilst disqualified before being collected by Cheshire Police

On Sunday afternoon officers stopped a driver in Eynsham following reports of drug driving. The driver provided a positive drugs wipe for cannabis and was arrested. They were taken to custody for a blood specimen.

Yesterday afternoon (Monday, February 19) officers located a vehicle on the M40 near Banbury, the driver of which was wanted on warrant for failing to appear at court for drug driving.

The driver was arrested and taken to custody and will be presented at court in the morning.
