AN underwater search for a missing 76-year-old woman in Witney continues today with expert police divers.

Iona, whose last name has not been released, has not been seen since 11am on Monday (February 12) as the search for the Witney woman enters its seventh day.

The Avon & Somerset specialist dive team was requested to join the search by Thames Valley Police on Thursday (February 15).

They conducted a detailed underwater search of the River Windrush on Friday (February 16) and almost two kilometres had been covered.

The underwater search has continued today with help from Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire, supported by other neighbouring teams.

Police previously said they were growing ‘increasingly concerned’ for Iona’s welfare but the force is ‘keeping an open mind’ as the search continues.
