A charity which seeks to better the lives of children through community projects has successfully accumulated £60,000 in grants and is now inviting applications from projects in Oxfordshire.

The charity has a water theme, with beneficiaries including small wild swimming groups and long-standing sports clubs.

Children’s Alliance was founded in 2019 by late CEO of Water Babies Steve Franks, the world’s largest baby and toddler swimming school.

Nearly 500 children have benefited from the charity's efforts so far, and it has recently gained charity status.

It has assisted schools with swimwear, supported severely disabled children with hydrotherapy sessions, provided surfing therapy for mental health support, and facilitated swimming sessions for disabled children.

The funding can be allocated to community groups, schools, clubs, special needs organisations, or anything that contributes to children’s wellbeing and are swimming related.

Paul Thompson, founder of Water Babies and chair of trustee’s at Children’s Alliance, said: "We’re thrilled to have gained charity status for Children’s Alliance and have already started working with communities to support children and young people accessing water and experiencing the benefits water can bring. Children are at the heart of Water Babies.

"Children’s Alliance formalises our charitable work and provides an action plan of how to give back to families and communities, helping to provide better starts and brighter futures for children.”
