A TEENAGER who was arrested following a protest at an Oxford bank is still being investigated for public order, police have confirmed.

Thames Valley Police confirmed it was called to a protest in Barclays in Cornmarket Street on the morning of Saturday, February 10 at approximately 11.30am.

The Oxford Mail received reports of masked protesters entering the bank.

After being asked to leave Barclays by officers, they made their way down the road to Starbucks and entered the premises.

A 19-year-old man was then arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass.

However, police have confirmed today (February 15) no further action will be taken against the teenager for aggravated trespassing.

But a public order investigation continues. 

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “Following an investigation, no further action is to be taken in respect of the aggravated trespass allegation, and he has been released on police bail in respect of the public order investigation.”

Oxford University's student newspaper The Oxford Student reported the person arrested attends Balliol College.

When contacted for a comment on the incident by the Oxford Mail, a spokeswoman for Balliol College said staff were aware of what took place.

She said: "The Master has asked me to say that the College is aware of the incident but has no comment to make.”

Protesters previously took residence outside Barclays in Cornmarket Street last month, waving Palestinian flags, placards and chanting, accusing the bank of ‘supporting genocide’.
