A burglar in Oxford attempted to break into a house twice but failed both times.

The suspect first tried to gain entry to the rear of a property in Rose Hill by using a large screwdriver on Monday, January 12 at around 2.30am.

It is believed the same person attempted to gain access to the property for a second time on the evening of Tuesday, January 16 but was unsuccessful again.

While the suspect was not able to gain access to the property, police said there has been significant damage to the door.

Thames Valley Police is releasing a CCTV image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection to the incident.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Lee Dix, based at Oxford police station, said: “I am appealing to anybody who recognises the man in this image to please get in touch with us as we believe he may have vital information about this incident.

“If you are pictured, please come forward as soon as possible.
