After a four year hiatus, the Pancake Day Race returned to Wallingford.
Assembling at the Market Place, children and adults took to the streets with their frying pans, vying to finish victorious as they raced with their pancakes balanced and attempted to not let them fall out onto the ground.
The children’s race kickstarted proceedings at 10am, followed by the adults’ race at 11am. Once the races finished, competitors enjoyed their pancakes.

By tradition, the winner has always been awarded a golden frying pan trophy engraved with all the names of past victors.
Organisers Wallingford Town Council encouraged participants to use the returned Shrove Tuesday annual tradition as a fundraising opportunity.
The race last look place in February 2020 and has since not been held due to the coronavirus pandemic and organisers being pre-occupied with other projects.
