Wallingford district councillors and town council candidates spoke with residents on Saturday (February 10), answering questions and addressing concerns.

Both groups spilt to two separate stalls at the event on St Mary-le-More Church café on Saturday morning.

There are two town councillor posts for the upcoming election, which will take place from 7am to 10pm on Thursday, February 22.

Residents will have two votes and can chose from Christine Sandall, Len Pannett and Nigel Everett.

Wallingford district councillor Katharine Keats-Rohan said: “It was a lively event, allowing councillors to speak with residents about issues that fall within their council’s remit.

“It’s an opportunity for people to find out more about how the council system works too.

“One concern raised was state of roads going into the town cemetery. It’s good news here as the district council has set aside money to repair those paths – that will happen at some point this year.

“We’re encouraging people to complete an online consultation concerning the Joint Local Plan between South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, which outlines a vision for how they would like districts developed.”

Wallingford district councillor James Barlow said: “It went really well. It’s important for us to speak with residents and people really enjoy it.

“Things that came up were the local plan, housing affordability and infrastructure being built in line with new developments.

“Environmental issues such as Wallingford’s bathing water status featured too.”
