Green-fingered town stalwarts put their spades in the ground at Didcot Library last weekend as they helped staff begin work on construction of a new community garden.
The garden at the library has been planned for the last two years, with this session marking the beginning of its creation.
At the session, volunteers first helped to plant a hedge at the centre in Broadway.

Assistant manager at the library Nicky Hargreaves confirmed the space, when finished, is intended to be a space for everyone in the community to enjoy.
The project has blossomed with the help of Sustainable Didcot, volunteers and wider members of the community through various donations.
Ms Hargreaves also confirmed this volunteer morning would be the first of a handful to be held throughout the year.
Residents wishing to contribute to the garden’s creation are advised to check Didcot Library’s Facebook page for announcements of the next sessions.
