“MY details are registered on an animal database,” said a murder-accused woman after she was arrested by police and told them she had a microchip embedded in her body.
Scarlet Blake, 25, of Crotch Crescent, is standing trial at Oxford Crown Court charged with the murder of Jorge Martin Carreno who was found dead at Parsons Pleasure, a popular bathing spot in the city, on July 25, 2021.
She was arrested almost two years later on August 9, 2023 after police received information from a person in America who had received a jacket from Blake that she was allegedly wearing on the night Mr Carreno died.

The trial heard on Wednesday (February 8) that upon arrest, Blake made no comment and continued to answer ‘no comment’ throughout her 13 police interviews.
However, at the end of one interview, Blake told officers she had a microchip embedded in her body.
She said: “Well, my details are registered on an animal database.”
Police scanned her with a microchip detector and it buzzed.
A pet microchip scanned was also found in Blake’s home.
The jury heard earlier in the proceedings that Blake had allegedly killed and dissected a neighbour’s cat before putting it in a blender.

There was no mention of where the microchip had come from.
During arrest, Blake could also be heard saying to officers: “At least it’s not genocide.”
The trial continues.
