A woman has blasted Tesco after finding “disgusting gunk” oozing out of a chicken while preparing a Sunday roast for her family.

The mum from Oxford, who asked to remain anonymous, has hit out at the supermarket giant for the chicken which was quickly thrown in the bin.

Pictures shared with us show the “gunk” spilling out of the chicken which was bought from the store on Oxford Retail Park on Thursday, February 1 before being frozen and then defrosted to be used on Sunday, February 4.

After contacting Tesco the Oxford mum was offered a £5 voucher when contacting the store on WhatsApp, which she described as “unacceptable”.

Oxford Mail: 'Disgusting gunk' spilling out of a chicken

She said: “As I was preparing the chicken I was cutting off the excess skin and then this disgusting gunk came out from the side.

“I ended up just having a roast with no meat. So basically vegetables and potatoes as all my other meat is frozen.

“One of my kids ended up with beans on toast and he doesn’t eat vegetables and would have the potatoes with chicken but obviously couldn’t.

“I was still not happy with the outcome. There could be a bad batch going around."

A Tesco spokesman said: “We’re sorry to hear this.

“We take all customer concerns seriously and if a customer is unhappy or concerned by a product they have purchased they can return the product to the store so we can investigate and issue a full refund.”
