A TRIAL is due to take place for a man accused of having a knife in a public place.

Paul Collins, 39, has been charged with possession of a locking knife in Cholsey on February 17 last year.

He is also accused of beating a police constable on the same day as well as having a Class B drug, cannabis, and driving a Ford Transit Connect dangerously on the A329.

Collins, of Ross Gardens, Bournemouth, appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court on January 8 faced with the four counts.

The proceedings were adjourned for a trial due to take place on March 18 at the same court.

Collins, formerly of Wilding Road, Wallingford, will remain on unconditional bail until the hearing which is due to take 90 minutes.
