Work is under way ahead of the opening of a new Indian restaurant in Oxford.
Signage is being created for 'Dosa' in the premises formerly occupied by Cafe Tarifa on Cowley Road.
The South Indian casual dining restaurant specialises in dosas and biryanis.
Dosa Darlings has also applied to Oxford City Council for a premises licence for 56 - 60 Cowley Road.
The licence will allow films, live music, late night refreshment and recorded music plus alcohol sales from Sunday to Saturday from 10am to 1am.
With a bright yellow exterior and a painted banner saying ‘welcome to the sunnyside of Oxford’, Café Tarifa, was a landmark on Cowley Road.
Last May owner Clinton Pugh, the father of Hollywood actress Florence, revealed Cafe Tarifa had been re-possessed and blamed low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) which he said had hit his finances hard.
Mr Pugh, who also owns restaurants Café Coco, which is for sale, and Kazbar, was a leading critic of the county council’s traffic measures and attacked the lack of consultation on LTNs in a banner outside Café Coco.
Cafe Tarifa went on the market in 2020 and Mr Pugh told the Oxford Mail he was in the process of selling the lease and had received an offer of £100,000 before it was repossessed.
