A Didcot dance school has emerged victorious at the National Entertainment Awards after winning in the best performing arts school category.
Forty three students of the Bernadine Soul School Of Dance competed at the National Entertainment Awards in Grays, Essex, on Sunday, January 28, after being scouted to represent the South East of England.
The group’s routine, entitled ‘AVATAR’ showcases acrobatic dance along with tumbling skills and large acrobatic lifts. The team is comprised of seven to 19-year-olds.
They competed over two ceremonies against 26 other schools across the South East, winning best performing arts school for the region and were additionally named grand overall winners.

Vice Principal Natalie Soul said: “All students were invited up on stage to collect their prestigious award that looked like a BAFTA trophy. The girls were extremely excited to be up on stage as a team supporting each other and hearing the feedback from the compère.
“The school was then asked to press the golden buzzer which automatically turned gold with lots of flashing lights, confetti cannons and sparklers resulting in a place in the grand final competing against the rest of the country this November at the 02 in London.
“We are incredibly proud of all our students. They have worked so hard for this moment and it paid off. We can’t wait to head to London later this year.”
