A PRISON sentence has been handed to a man who assaulted his ex-girlfriend after she refused to have sex with him.

Isaac Lee, 31, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Wednesday (January 24) for one count each of stalking, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating.

The court heard the landscaper had started a relationship with a woman in April last year, despite being married with a young child.

On two occasions in May, he hit the woman at different hotels after she refused to have anal sex with him.

When she broke the relationship off, he proceeded to send her ‘grotesque’ messages and drove his car at her on numerous occasions.

Sentencing him to three years imprisonment, Judge Ian Pringle said: “I do think you are genuinely remorseful. But I would be failing in my duty if I was not to pass today an immediate custodial sentence.”

Opening the case, prosecutor Bethan Chichester said the first incident occurred on May 16 at a Travelodge hotel in Witney.

The evening had started fine but turned ‘ugly’ when the woman refused sex with Lee. The pair began arguing and she slapped Lee, who retaliated by slapping her twice around the face.

On May 23, the pair were staying at Molly’s Diner on the A420 in Faringdon when again the woman refused sexual activity with Lee.

Lee told her she would be leaving the hotel in an ambulance and the ‘travelling community would come for her’.

She was hit so hard by Lee that her nose bleed as well as him pouring water over her.

A victim impact statement summarised in court heard that the woman was ‘absolutely terrified’ and now suffers from nightmares.

“She said she will more than likely have to move away from the area so she doesn’t have to live in fear,” said Ms Chichester.

The court heard that Lee, formerly of Downs Road, Standlake – near Witney, has eight convictions for 12 offences, including a domestic common assault in 2015.

Defending Lee, barrister Gordana Austen said the business owner was struggling with alcohol issues at the time but he has since stopped drinking and has ‘motivation to change’.

He was also made subject to a 10-year restraining order.
