Cholsey and Wallingford Rail are opening their doors to volunteers for Easter following a successful season.

Centred in its winter works programme, the award-winning railway offers a many roles for volunteers eager to get involved.

Roles range from track works to painting, or helping plan for upcoming events in 2024 and and future years.

Michael Palfrey, chairman at the railway, said: "It is great to see so many volunteers helping out and improving the railway ahead of our new season, the more volunteers we have, the more we can do to improve the railway and bring more visitors to the town."

Besides individual volunteers, the railway is open for corporate volunteer days.

It recently welcomed a young group of railway professionals from Network Rail.

The entirely volunteer-run railway has gained awards for the restoration of Maidenhead Canopy, relocated from Maidenhead to accommodate 'Cross Rail/Elizabeth Line' trains.

The volunteers also won the 'Small Group of the Year' award during 2022's Heritage Railway Association awards.
