CRYING in the dock, a man has denied cultivating cannabis plants in Abingdon, claiming he was ‘forced’.
Nam Nguyen, of no fixed abode, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Friday (January 19) charged with one count of cultivating 400 cannabis plants on October 9 last year.
The 37-year-old appeared in court for a plea and trial preparation hearing alongside a Vietnamese interpreter.
When asked if he pleaded guilty or not guilty, Nguyen began crying.
He said: “I plead not guilty because I was forced and please help me with accommodation.”
Nguyen is now due to stand trial at the same court later this year. He will need to prepare a full defence statement prior to the proceedings in March.
