A SENTENCING date has been set for a man found guilty of several counts of abuse against his ex-partner.

The 23-year-old had admitted to some charges against the woman, including using controlling and coercive behaviour against her.

However, he has denied six others of unlawful wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, rape, common assault, non-fatal strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Prosecutor Tim Forster explained the pair had met in Oxford before quickly starting a ‘toxic relationship’.

His behaviour was described as ‘angry, jealous and violent’.

A jury found him guilty of wounding with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.

The wounding with intent occurred when the pair had had an argument and Beqiri picked the woman up in Cowley Road and began ‘shouting, spitting and swearing’. While the woman ‘curled herself’ away, Beqiri stabbed her with an alleged 12-inch knife.

He perverted the course of justice after Beqiri leaving the woman a voicemail telling her to drop the rape allegations.

He was found not guilty of intentional strangulation and rape.

Beqiri, of Cranley Road, Headington, will now be sentenced on March 30.
