A TRIAL is due to go ahead after a man denied wielding an axe in public.

Chris Baillie, 45, denied one count of possession of a pointed article in Oxford Magistrates Court on Thursday (January 18).

He is accused of wielding an axe in Windmill Road, Oxford without ‘good reason or lawful authority’.

After pleading not guilty at his hearing, Baillie’s case was then sent to Oxford Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

The case has been listed to take place on February 16 at 10.30am.

Baillie, of Wood Farm Road, Headington, will remain on unconditional bail until next month.

If found guilty, Baillie could face a six month prison sentence or an unlimited fine.
