Blenheim Palace is a huge country house in Woodstock that is a UNESCO World Heritage site boasting a long and diverse history.

It was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and is also the seat of the Dukes of Marlborough.

Not only is it one of the county's biggest spectacles that attracts scores of visitors every year, but the palace is largely lauded for being a "fantastic family experience".

Blenheim Palace provides awe-inspiring experiences for visitors every year, however, one review on the customer feedback website TripAdvisor from last summer stood out from the rest.

The review reads: "This was an extremely disappointing experience compared to the wonderful Peter Rabbit Adventure last year.

"We were returning customers with our two five-year-olds. Two of us had made the train journey from Bath bringing an expensive outlay and very much the treat of our summer.

"We felt it would be worth it as last year was so brilliant.

"We arrived for our 1pm show to find that all the electrics were down and the train was broken. The show was basically cancelled for the rest of the day.

"There was a vague possibility that it might be fixed for 2pm but apparently unlikely, and it wasn't fixed. We took our children to the amazing adventure playground which they enjoyed.

"However to be so let down with the purpose of our visit completely cancelled it was very disappointing for the children and us and there were a few tears at the end that we hadn't done it.

"When we got the gate to leave Blenheim we found the electric gate to be faulty and were locked in for a little while, we just made our train but only because it was late. We also found an email to say the show was cancelled which was only sent to us at 2.41pm.

"We would rather a phone call straight away or a text message. Even at the kiosk when we arrived and showed our Paddington tickets the guy said nothing about a problem. Ideally, I would like a full refund on both our tickets and our train fares."

"A very hard Paddington stare to Blenheim from us"

"We want to do the show but as there is no guarantee that it won't be cancelled again and spending almost £40 on a second train trip I am not sure about rescheduling.

"What a very disappointing and stressful experience. Would currently absolutely not recommend.

"A very hard Paddington stare to Blenheim from us."

A representative for Blenheim responded: "Thank you for taking the time to review Blenheim Palace and your Paddington experience. We are very sorry to hear that the Paddington experience did not live up to your expectations.

"We will pass your feedback onto the event organisers. If you would like to email us more information so we can assist you further, please do contact us at customerserivce@blenheimpalace.com.

"We do hope you choose to visit us again soon."

The Paddington exhibit was on from Tuesday, July 4 to Sunday, September 3 2023.
