The King has appointed a Witney Reverend the new Dean of Wells Cathedral, announced Downing Street on January 15.
The Reverend Canon Toby Wright will be installed as dean on June 16 at 3pm, and will say goodbye to the Benefice of Witney at a final Sunday service in St Mary’s church on April 28.
Canon Wright described his departure as a "heartfelt wrench", yet feels "now is a good time to make a leap into the unknown".
He said: "I was asked by the Archbishops’ Appointments team to consider becoming the Dean of Wells, and it has felt so right during the long and challenging process of exploration.
"I am very clear that I have only got this new job because of the ways I have been shaped and formed by living alongside you in this community of mercy and kindness."
Parish wardens said: "We are delighted that Toby’s many gifts and talents have been recognised."
However, the removal of Canon Wright and his family is "extremely sad" due to their "immensely positive impact".
The Parish Wardens asked for prayers to guide the ministry team during the preparations for Canon Wright's move, as well as during the appointment process for his replacement as Team Rector.
Canon Wright's duty in his new position will be leading the Chapters at the Cathedral to service the diocese and County.
