Members of Extinction Rebellion Wallingford waded through riverside floodwaters to stage a mock government office symbolising government inaction on climate change.
Dressed in office clothes, they called the scene “The Department for Ignoring Climate Chaos”.
Dr Sue Roberts, the chair of the Bioabundance Community Interest Company, called for urgent action towards greener alternatives.
She said: "Stop new fossil fuels. Switch to renewables.
"We need Government action to protect us from excessive temperatures, floods, storms, and food-shortages."
Other members who took part in the demonstration voiced their concerns, saying: “This flooding, the climate chaos we are witnessing, will only get worse as our Government continues to fuel the climate crisis with 100 new oil and gas licenses being granted."
Another who was at the demonstration added: “Our weather, once predictable, is now a wild rollercoaster.
"This is what climate chaos looks like.”
The flood water was caused by Storm Henk, which has caused major disruption across Oxfordshire.
Extinction Rebellion say emissions from burning fossil fuels warm the atmosphere and make storms more frequent and severe in the UK
2023 marked the hottest year and wettest July to December period on record, according to the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology.
Extinction Rebellion warns of a more perilous future unless significant action is taken.
