A printing company which operates in Oxford has made a £1 million investment in eco-friendly printing to boost its sustainability agenda.

ARC-UK Technologies has purchased a wide format Fujifilm printing press, the Acuity Ultra Hybrid LED, which is the second of it's kind to be installed in the UK.

The press uses recyclable inks, which are free from environmentally damaging solvents, and uses up to half the energy of conventional printing machines.

According to the company, the press can produce eco-friendly signage for a 1.6 million sq. ft shopping mall like Bluewater in Kent in as little as 48 hours.

This action supports businesses and communities seeking to achieve net carbon zero goals through efficient and scalable neutral print production.

ARC-UK Technologies has been active in backing Oxford’s aim for zero carbon emissions by 2040.

They have supplied vinyl displays for properties in the county, such as the Westgate shopping centre.

Darren Moorhouse, head of sales UK and Europe, said: "The investment highlights our continued journey towards achieving our carbon net zero targets within the UK Governments stipulated timelines, whilst allowing us to further align with industry-leading sustainability strategies, from some of the UK’s leading companies, to provide carbon neutral print and document solutions.

"We can now drive greater levels of productivity without compromising on neutral status or cost efficiencies."

The company has experienced considerable growth in recent years due to it's sustainable practices and print credentials.

Turnover has almost doubled in three years, achieving a boost from £5.9 million in 2021 to a projected £9.2 million in 2023, a hike of 56 per cent.

Mr Moorhouse added: "Beyond the environmental benefits of practicing sustainable habits, businesses can reap financial rewards when they choose to be environmentally friendly.

"We are finding that customers are more likely to partner with companies that engage in and promote sustainable practices."

During 2023, ARC-UK Technologies forged a partnership with Landsec, one of the UK’s largest property and investment companies, to work on initiatives reducing carbon emissions.

They also targeted carbon neutrality in print production at various Landsec retail locations across the UK.

ARC-UK Technologies aims to operate on 100 per cent renewable energy this year and is considering the installation of 60 solar panels at its Dartford facility.

In 2022, the company started to work towards a carbon-net zero target for its headquarters, housed in a new 30,000 sq. ft facility in Dartford.

As part of the New York-listed ARC Document Solutions, ARC-UK Technologies delivers digital printing and document-related services in more than 140 locations to over 90,000 global customers.
