A husband accused of attempted murder has been acquitted after the prosecution offered no evidence in court.
Mark Haynes, 68, had been accused of trying to kill his wife at their home in Willes Close, Faringdon, on Saturday, February 11.
His trial had been scheduled to take place over a period of five to seven days at Oxford Crown Court from today (Monday, January 8).

But the trial will not go ahead as no formal proceedings were brought against Haynes by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
It comes after the CPS failed to provide any evidence to the court in December.
Where no evidence is offered in the crown court, a verdict of not guilty is recorded and no further proceedings are possible for the offence unless the verdict is set aside.
