Banbury United's game this weekend is in big doubt with the ground currently underwater following the rain during Storm Henk.

The club shared pictures of The Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium on Wednesday after the ground was completely submerged by water.

Banbury are due to host Peterborough Sports on Saturday, January 7 but this is now in doubt with the cub telling fans to continue to check their social media accounts for updates.

The National League North match is scheduled to kick off at 3pm.

It added the club would be seeking help to clear up the ground when the water subsides.

A club social media post said: "As per much of Banbury, the ground is currently completely under water.

"We will probably be asking for some help to clear up when the water does subside.

"As usual, we'll inform everyone as soon as it's appropriate to do so, on the status of this Saturday's home match.

"Please check socials and the website."

There are 34 flood alerts issued across Oxfordshire today and nine flood warnings on rivers in the area.

More than 300 flood warnings were also in place across England and Wales on Wednesday morning, while 10,000 homes remained without power.

Heavy winds also hit the county as Storm Henk battered large parts of the UK.

The Met Office issued an amber warning for high winds yesterday (January 2) with trees falling across the county including on the railway line between Bicester North and Banbury.
