Over 200 hardy souls turned out for one of Oxfordshire's most popular charity fun runs.
The annual Great Brook Run takes place half on land, half in water.
Starting with a bugle call outside the Tite Inn in Chadlington the mile-long cross country course wends through a quagmire of muddy fields through dark tunnels under roads and up steep riverbanks.
It ends with runners immersed in the icy Coldron Brook before survivors retire to the pub to receive a medal.
Legend has it that the run, which drew in hundreds of spectators on December 27, has its roots in the first great Viking invasion of Chadlington.
It has seen former West Oxfordshire MP and local Lord Cameron take part four times since it started.
Jason Chipchase, managing director of Chadlington Brewery, said: "We had 248 runners, but no winner as it is a fun run, although first back was Luke Gribbin form Devon."
The run raised funds for Diabetes UK, Homeless Oxfordshire and Sobell House.
